Sue Bovenizer is a natural health therapist certified in Aromatherapy, Massage and CranioSacral Therapy and Integral Yoga instruction. She also offers Infant and Pediatric CST, Somato-Emotional Release work, Visceral Manipulation and Reiki (Master level).

From the earliest times, Sue had a fascination with the workings of the human body— seventh grade biology was her favorite subject. Dance and theatre were a theme in her teens and by the time she was 19, she worked summers as an exercise instructor and personal trainer, long before personal trainers were fashionable. All throughout her life, Sue has either taught or attended a yoga, exercise or dance class and her passion for movement continues. Even during her years of traveling with her family and living in exotic places like Algeria and Indonesia, Sue managed to create body awareness classes for her and the other expatriates.

In 1985, Sue moved just south of London, England where she began to study the healing arts in earnest. She started to hone her psychic gifts by using crystals in her therapy sessions, then went on to train in Reiki. She participated in a ‘long distance’ healing circle for almost 8 years, where she truly grew to understand the awesome power of psychic energy. In 1987, Sue began studying aromatherapy and massage, culminating in a certification that would allow her to practice aromatherapy massage anywhere in (what was then) the EEC in Europe.

Moving back to America in 1994, she was introduced to the Upledger Institute and CranioSacral Therapy and thought this was the missing key to her understanding of the functioning of the human body— that is until she began studying Visceral Manipulation, which opened a whole new avenue of exploration into the body. Somato-Emotional Release classes allowed her to delve into the psyche of the structural body and dialogue with its innate wisdom. Then Zero Balancing helped her find a new way of balancing and centering her other skills.

Her latest passion in the past few years has been treating in the CranioSacral modality with dolphins. These magnificent creatures a have deep understanding and awareness of the human body, and through the use of their echolocators, dolphins can “read” the body and send pulsing waves to it, breaking up any blocked or stagnant energy. (See my dolphin article).

Sue now lives in beautiful Charlottesville with her partner Tom Nichols and has a private practice on the historic downtown mall in the city. (see professional services)
