The First Chakra— Muladhara Chakra— The Root or Base Chakra

1st chakraColor : Red
Associated Element : Earth
Sense : Smell
Basic principle : Physical Will of Being

Associated parts of body : Anus, rectum, colon, solid parts like spinal column, bones, teeth, nails. Blood and building of cells.

Associated Glands : Supradrenal glands (production of adrenaline and noradrenaline).

Associated Astrological Signs and Planets :
Aries/Mars – New beginnings, primordial life energy, power to achieve, aggressiveness.
Taurus – Close to the earth, stability possession, sensual pleasure.
Scorpio/Pluto – Unconscious attachment, sexual power, transformation and renewal.
Capricorn/Saturn – Structure and stability.

Music : Monotonous, emphatic rhythms. Sounds of nature.
Vowel : The vowel “u” as in ‘ooh’. 1st chakra
Mantra : LAM

Gemstones : Agate, hematite, blood jasper, garnet, red coral, ruby.

Physical Dysfunctions : Chronic lower back pain, sciatica, varicose veins, rectal tumors, immune related disorders.

Mental/Emotional Issues : Family safety and security, providing life’s necessities, ability to stand up for self, feeling at home.

Lessons : related to the material world.
